Atheist count increases

Few days before, I read in Times of India,
about the Swamionomics column writer Anklesaria Iyer and the Father of India's White Revolution, India's Milk Man Dr. Varghese Kurien confessed, in their own columns, that they are Atheists. Is it becoming a fad?

Kurien says he was compelled by his parents to worship Jesus, as their family is a devout Christians. That led him to hate God, Church and rituals. Now 85 years old this accomplished Gentleman speaks in support of dream, hard work, vision. I agree. He was fortunate to realise his dreams. But I see so many people didn't get the rewards even after hard work, good knowledge, skills. Anyhow, these people insist on human efforts which are a must for success.

Kurien says, any human being can achieve; regardless of his background; [Dr. Kurien came from a middle class family], if he is ready to put in his efforts. He has a point, I must agree. But at the same time, so many super rich people are very devout. May be Dr. Kurien might have retained his post [which he resigned without willing] if he went to church!.

Believing is not handing over things or control completely to God. You will still seek a Doctor to cure the disease. But when you see the Doctor you will pray God and ask help from him to ease the situation, to ease the pain. Believing is to seek support from the Super Natural Force, whilst we carry on doing our duty. That Super Natural Force acts as a self confidence Booster, that's all. It makes the going easy. That Dr. Kurien himself accepts. He says the Believers are so peaceful in their life. They simply leave the problem to God and rest easy. So in those words Dr. Kurien sums the essence of Religion: to provide peace of mind to oneself. If you are OK, the environ around you is OK. That is what all Life is.

Compare this scenario with another Super Atheist Astrophysics scientist Dr. Stephan Hawking, the author of "Brief History of Time". This Hawkins asked God "Why me"? when he got bedridden for life with the motor neuron disease. After that, slowly he became Atheist.

Another Believer in USA, the Grand Slam winning Tennis Star Arthur Ashley said this while in Hospital getting treated for AIDS: "There are so many kids getting trained for Tennis in USA and so many reach the Slam Title but only I was one of the men able to win the Tennis Grand Slam cup, that time I didn't ask God, Why only Me?. So now I can't ask God Why Me?
